2012 Ford F 150 SVT Raptor Receives Modern Updates From Ford
The tough and go-anywhere model of Ford, the F 150 SVT Raptor gets an assortment of revisions from Ford for model year 2012. The impending 2012 F 150 SVT Raptor with its all new updates becomes an even more potent off-roading vehicle. The truck has also been given some noticeable apparent and equipment revisions.
What we think will entice the rock-crawling fanatics is the inclusion of a Torsen limited-slip front differential in 2012 Ford F 150 SVT Raptor. The Torsen limited-slip front differential supports the truck when running over the obstacles or sharp inclines by ensuring that the torque is given to the front wheel with the maximum traction. The SVT (Special Vehicle Team) of Ford worked alongside Torsen to make the new slip differential match the brake-based traction-control system of the truck, and for specially modifying the differential housing to deal with the phenomenal torque necessities of the 2012 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. The newly appointed differential was tested over the exceptional 1000-mile off-road “torture test” course of SVT.
One another new feature in the 2012 F 150 SVT Raptor is an optional front-facing camera, which is positioned on the front grille of the truck and gives a clear view of the obstacles to the driver, in case the humongous hood of the truck covers them. The camera is activated through the instrument-cluster of the vehicle at less than 15 mph speed, and the images sent by the camera are displayed on the navigation screen of the vehicle. The camera here even comes with a fanatical washer nozzle which keeps it clear from dust and grime when the truck is out during the action.
Speaking at the event, Jamal Hameedi, the chief engineer at SVT said, “We’ve developed the system which is ideally suited for avoiding the huge rocks or putting a tire on big rocks. At time it could even be used as spotter.”
The Visual updates for the 2012 Ford F 150 SVT Raptor includes fresh graphic on the body side featuring the Raptor logo which is already seen on the hood. Lusterless, textured and polish finishes blended with jagged shapes results in an “off-road and racing feel.” Inside that all is a brand new lusterless anodized blue brogue package featuring blue accents event on the leather seats, in addition to blue accent plastic placed on the door panels and center stack. There also are brand new aluminum trim pieces fitted for the center console and instrument cluster.
Lastly, the 2012 Ford F 150 SVT Raptor gets cooled seats joining the Luxury package, and there also is a fresh Euroflange wheel design available.
Apart from all the aforementioned features the 2012 Ford F 150 SVT Raptor is pretty much unchanged for the model year 2012. The SVT will be available in both the SuperCrew and SuperCab body styles, with the SuperCrew accounting for around 80 percent of the total sales. The standard engine for the truck remains the 6.2 ltr V8 engine churning maximum power of 411 bhp and 434 lbs-feet of maximum torque.
