Pick up trucks proved to be a great money grabbing opportunity to many automakers. Automakers initially invested less in this segment but slowly and gradually when the demand increased automakers started developing and redesigning parts as well as engines of these pick ups. The redesigned styling and lush interior used in both the trucks differentiates it from each other. Chevrolet trucks are equipped with latest amenities which gives it yet another flag for its win. Chevrolet’s Silverado had fresh grill designs and square shaped panels which enhanced the overall looks of the trucks. Silverado’s Fake wood gained a lot of points as it was more attractive than even before. The dash used in this Chevy gave it a more classy looks. The EZ-Lift tailgate and fresh redesigned cargo beds were another attractive feature of this pick up. Pick up trucks found in the market had traditional beds which gave them the dull look and was even of less productivity and efficiency.
Chevrolet Silverado was powered by 5.3 L, V8 engine. This engine proved to be better fuel efficient as compared to other Pick ups. Silverado gave enhanced fuel economy of 16 in city and 20 on highway. This engine was mated with 4 speed automatic transmission. This 4 wheel drive pick up was capable of attaining 0 to 60 in 8.2 sec. This is comparatively quicker than the Dodge Ram Hemi 4×4 and Ford F-150.
In terms of Towing abilities the Sierra and Silverado proved to be among the top players. Silverado even when loaded showed great control as compared to the Sierra. Silverado didn’t fail to impress the judge because of which it was declared the winner.
The conclusion was drawn after a week long test of both the trucks on and off road. Silverado proved that it was the best truck with the most durable engine and reliable body which was ready to face any wear and tear.
Chevrolet’s Silverado managed to grab in the Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year, 2007 title under its hood.
