US research identifies locations of frequent truck rollovers
ATRI or American Transportation Research Institute recently compiled one list of most dangerous places for the truck roll overs in US. Researcher investigated above 50,000 records of crash over 9 yr period for this report, which was released today as 1st phase of 3-part initiative of research.
This database covers about 31 states, giving important info to the industry of trucking & officials of transportation.
Steve Niswander, who is vice-president of the safety policy & regulatory relations for the Groendyke Transport says that this research is really important to trucking industry, because it informs the drivers of locations that are potentially dangerous, but it should jump start dialogue between government & industry for working together for improving safety at all of these sites.
ATRI created rollover interactive map which highlights the problem areas. After this, ATRI will be investigating identified locations for better understanding the factors that are causal. You can get the full report for this on the Internet along with interactive map.
